2024, omaha, NE – the chronic sleep paralysis and occult leanings of a  mentally-ill songwriter open a door. 

a dream ghoul was born. it travelled the temporal pathways of the unconscious mind, mining it for memories and memetic artifacts, combing the fabric of the collective unconscious. 

all to tell this story. 

"a forgotten future" is about the possession of an artist by a living idea. it is a mass occult dream pop ritual, a shoegazer's lullaby, a hauntological manifesto, an exploration of genre, a spell to dream, an experiment in storytelling, a call to imagine a better world, and an invitation to peel back the wallpaper. it is an exploration of the past, and a wish to find our lost future. 

a dream ghoul is inspired by the philosophy of mark fisher's "capitalist realism", jacques derrida's "spectres of marx", jean baudrillard's "simulacra and simulation", guy debord's "society of the spectacle", michael parenti's "inventing reality", and other currents of dialectical materialism. it is equally inspired by the metaphysical and occult art and work of phil hine, pamela coleman smith, austin osman spare, zola jesus, and william s. burroughs.

dream ghoul is a digestion and critique of a burning, crumbling system that reproduces its own exploitative contradictions infinitely, evolving and draining humanity and life on earth like a qualitative parasite.
